In a season finale debut on Friday that was characterized by a lot of defense play and missed opportunities, visitors Pigeon Forge took home the title after thrashing Scott High -The home team- 13-6. Pigeon Forge (Tigers) went ahead to take the Region’s 2-3A playoff title in a game that was characterized by a lot of missed chances by Scott High (Highlanders). The Highlanders ended their playoff season at 5-5. Though they were eventually defeated, the hosts were able to keep The Tigers at Bay from the title for most of the game. During the Fourth Quarter, they were able to cut the lead by The Tigers with a touchdown that brought the score on the board to 7-6. However, as the game continued, Pigeon Forge were able to score a touchdown and move ahead to 13-6. They were then able to keep the hosts from scoring again until the end of the game. The Tigers were able to claim the win mainly because of three plays they made during the season Finale playoff. For starters, late in the second quarter they made a 36-yard run. They then went ahead to make a 32-yard pass in the third quarter before finally making their winning play in the fourth quarter. HUNTSVILLE — Defense. That was the primary theme for Friday’s regular season finale between Scott High and visiting Pigeon Forge. But missed opportunities was a secondary theme, as the Tigers survived what was essentially a playoff play-in game with a 13-6 victory over the Highlanders, which earned them Region 2-3A’s fourth and final playoff berth. Scott High’s season ended at 5-5, but not without effort. The Highlanders kept Pigeon Forge on the ropes throughout the game, scoring a fourth quarter touchdown to cut the gap to 7-6 before the Tigers put a late score on the board and then held on until time expired. When the final horn sounded, Scott High was at Pigeon Forge’s 39-yard-line and driving. But the Highlanders had gotten the ball back with only 1:03 remaining in a game in which both teams had struggled to move the football. Pigeon Forge scored on two big plays: a 36-yard run late in the second quarter, and a 32-yard pass on third-and-long late in the fourth quarter. Otherwise, the Tigers struggled to move the football. Until their final drive of the game, Pigeon Forge had just 112 yards of offense and was 0 of 7 on third down. However, throughout the game, The Highlanders had plenty of opportunities to capitalize and move ahead of The Tigers throughout the game. For example, during the first quarter, the hosts had the ball inside the 5-yard line of the visitors after a 59-yard run made by William Young, a sophomore. During the first quarter, Scott High had the ball in the visitors territory three times but they were unable to capitalize on the opportunities at hand. Upto close to the end of the game, The Highlanders had every opportunity to catch up to the hosts but the defense put up by the visiting team was too strong. via Pigeon Forge Tennessee https://pigeonforgeblog.wordpress.com/2020/11/13/the-highlanders-sink-the-tigers-with-a-13-6-win-in-a-game-characterized-by-a-lot-of-defense-and-missed-opportunities/
